1944年，二战如火如荼，战争局势波谲云诡。纳粹德国四面出击，但在盟军的合力反击下，德军攻势已成强弩之末。此时此刻，德军一部分高级军官意识到战争的天平已经倾斜，希特勒（David Bamber 饰）的战争策略将引领德国走向灭亡。越来越多的军官相信，只有除掉希特勒及其支持者，发动政变夺取政权，并通过和谈与盟军达成协议，才能最终拯救德国。
